You asked – what is the carving on it?
The object has a few different carvings on it.
There are three holes carved in one end of the object. We think these are for attaching it to a piece of wood to make it longer.
Along the long bit there are a few V-shaped carvings – we think those are just for decoration.
The main carving is an animal looking backwards. There are lots of different ideas about what the animal is. It could be a doe, a female deer, giving birth or it could be a young deer, chamois or ibex (type of wild goat) doing a poo! Either way there are two birds (which look like woodpeckers) sitting on the baby/poo! Here’s a close up.
